The project aims to investigate the occurrence, distribution, flux pattern, fate and environmental risk of microplastics and associated contaminants (organic and heavy metals) in soil, water, air and biota in Mozambique, Botswana, and the South Africa to (a) elucidate the actual impact of MPs on quality of environment, and on the food systems, and (b) to develop effective strategies to mitigate the impact of MPs to ecosystems and human health.
