Abstract

This paper presents a lightweight version of the National Performance Indicator Ontology (NPIonto). NPIonto represents semantic integration of Performance Indicators (PIs) for the development agendas that form the National Integrated Indicator Framework (NIIF) for Botswana, comprising of the national vision agendas, national development plan agendas, Africa agendas, and domesticated agendas for sustainable development goals. The proposed model has been designed to fulfil the development agenda domain requirements for Botswana of a consolidated indicator framework with clear relationship mappings and data definitions, together with data disaggregation and a reflection on PIs multi-dimensional attributes. The official documentations on development agendas served as the basis for the conceptualisation of the model which was developed according to the Knowledge Model Development (KMD) methodology. NPIonto lightweight model provides a snapshot of concepts, sub-concepts and relations in the domain of development agendas within the Botswana's NIIF context. It will serve as a blueprint for the development of the fully-fledged NPIonto.
