N2 - In this study, the Friction Stir Spot welding (FSSW) technique was applied to join pure commercially copper for industrial uses. The welds were produced by varying the rotational speeds of 1200, 1600 and 2000. rpm. Microstructure evolution and the corrosion properties of the welds produced were studied. The degree of corrosion was determined by scanning electron microscopy technique (SEM). Energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) was used to analyse the debris observed in the specimens. It was found that the corrosion resistance of FSSW was enhanced and the microstructure modification and inclusion can changed the corrosion behaviour of the pure commercially copper in a 3.5% NaCl solution.
