Abstract
The aim of this paper is to evaluate the ways to use coal alone or in addition with biomass (sawdust, agricultural wastes etc.) or solid waste (animal residue, municipal solid wastes, waste paper etc.) trough co-gasification to supply syngas for energy vectors poly generation in an Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle (IGCC) with Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS). This paper analyses various cases of blending coal with different renewable energy sources by means of mathematical modeling and simulation of the gasification process using the process flow modeling software ChemCAD. The effect of varying the feedstock and the effect of varying the blending ratio coal vs. alternative fuel on the cold gas efficiency and hydrogen production potential is studied for the gasifier performance optimization.
