Abstract

One of the fundamental objectives of geodesy is to accurately define positions of points on the surface of the Earth. It is important and necessary to establish an accurate geodetic reference frame for measurements and computations of points on the surface of the earth. Recently, we have seen the advancement on technology of using GPS for determination of a
three-dimensional geocentric reference system. The determination of a three – dimensional geocentric reference system has been introduced in Tanzania based on this technology since 2010. Besides the advantages of using GPS technology to effectively establish this new
Tanzania geodetic reference frame, the coordinate accuracy of these well-distributed control points will benefit from the convenient implementation of the maintenance of the framework.
