N2 - Fertile dark soils made by humans in the Amazon basin, terra preta, have influenced the manufacture of the biochar based fertilizers. Different types of biochar exist but not all of them are good in improving the quality of the soil. FTIR was used to distinguish between the more and the less fertile biochar.
