Abstract
We compare two approaches within the Peyrard-Bishop-Dauxois model of DNA dynamics. One of them is an original approach while the second one is based on Jacobian elliptic functions. Under certain circumstances both of them bring about the same solutions but the wave characteristics like amplitudes, wave lengths and velocities have different values. Through a couple of discussions we show that the second approach is not suitable to explain DNA dynamics.
